When I tell people I am a biker, I can see they start to tense due to the Hells Angels' convention taking place in town. When I explain that I am a touring cyclist, I can see them relax. I had a fantastic sleep, do laundry, get my bike looked after at The Bike Doctor courtesy of Ryan who I contacted a few weeks ago through warm showers. I get my head shaved again and it feels so cool! I manage to use the guitars at St. John's Music and actually record a few guitar tracks for some of the songs I've written so far. I then make it to Long and McQuade where I restore my soul with some piano. It is a long time since I've been able to play and I wish I could spend hours there but I need to get to the coffee shop where I am to meet Kip, the warmshowers host for Saskatoon. Kip is a really down to earth guy and we have lots in common through cycling, Japan experiences, and tree planting. I enjoy reminicing about our mutual experiences. Kip is an avid bike polo player and plays regularly. Kip takes me back to his home where I meet his wife Karen, their 2 cats (Chance and Dash) and 2 dogs (Kiran and Claire). The dogs look similar to Maple and it is nice to be around animals again. They treat me to lunch and the use of their computer. As they have plans, I am not actually able to stay with them but it has been a real treat to meet them. They are actually thinking about heading to the Island to homestead. Real cool folks!
