I arrived right on time to the Torimon pub but no one was there. Not to worry, the group soon arrived. My sister in law Ayako and 2 friends from her old work as well as Megumi and my sister in law Yukie, Momo, and Manon. Dad is so busy working it seems. Gosh I feel lazy next to him! We got a whole chicken which I`d never seen in japan before as well as sashimi and salads. I asked if they had Agedashi Dofu which is fried tofu in a sweet, salty soup. It is never featured on any menus but most people will make it if asked. I guess its a bit like ordering toast and jam at a bar. Good drinks, and food and fun to hang out with family. Odd too that a 10 year old and 16 year old can hang out in a bar! :) I passed on the beef tongue but Manon ate that stuff up! I don`t know why but I am finding Japan really hot! We sat under a heater and it was a little like being in the desert with the wind blowing. Don`t forget too, that we`ve got a blowing cauldron of soup about 30 centimetres from our faces as well. As a final treat, the smoke from the room was making the air unpleasant to breathe. There is still much reluctance to have no smoking sections in Japan and it is one of the reasons I love Starbucks here-non smoking in the whole place! I was so happy to get out into the fresh air. I was exhausted from hanging out with Yuko and Emi all day so I begged off the further party and we came home while Ayako and her crew kept the party going.
On the way home, a lady collapsed on the train. A few rushed to her aid except the man sitting right next to her who was listening to an ipod. I guess it was a good song. The crowd sort of looked at the 3 people holding her and Megumi shouted out, Shouldn`t someone get a train employee? I had never heard her like this, it might be her living in Canada that has made her more aggressive. When she spoke, a lady hustled off to go get the conductor. Momo helped out by crowding in to look at the lady in distress until her mom hauled her back and expalined that if she wasn`t doing something, she needn`t gawk. :) The lady went outside with a few others and the train waited while we figured out the situation. We waited about 4 minutes before heading out again. Very rare for trains to be late in Japan. Momo had gotten her mom`s permission and she lit up like a Christmas tree to find out she could sleep at gramma`s home. She really loves hanging around Megumi. Another great event.
