I was back on highways after Sauveterre and fields and forests were what I was seeing. At Mamandre, I stumbled across the tourist office and discovered the nicest lady present. She explained things clearly and slowly and soon I was onto the canal route to Agen. As I boarded, it looked like a marina but as I came around the corner, I was greeted by the site in the picture. Huge maples lined the canal and the water was a cool, dark green and it just kept going and going. This ride made the ride up to Bordeaux worth it! I was having a good time and must have said bonjour about 200 times. Towards the end of the day, I was definitely tired-I think I did about 160 kms as it was not a straight shot. Felt good getting into Agen. A French first here, several people went out of their way to get me to Angelique's house. Video of the canal tour.
